If you're still undecided about a summer vacation destination, you will be interested in WalletHub's list of best and worst states for summer road trips. You may even want to consider staying in Colorado.

WalletHub says 85% of Americans are taking summer vacations, with 90% of those hitting the road.

The study examined 20 factors in determining the list, including driving and lodging costs, road conditions and safety, along with the number of  fun and scenic attractions. Washington has the most fun and scenic attractions, Minnesota is #1 for road conditions and safety, and Alabama is at the top for lowest driving and lodging costs.

The best states for summer road trips, according to the study, are Oregon, Nevada, Minnesota and Washington, Ohio, Utah, and Wyoming with Colorado coming in at #8 on the list. Looks like some of the very best destinations are close to home.

The worst states for road trips are Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Delaware, North Dakota, and  Connecticut. (Although Oklahoma is a great destination if you want to get up close and personal with a tornado!)

If you are hitting the road this summer, you might want to check out WalletHub's findings to help you make a final decision regarding your vacation destination.
