It is possible that we could be finding intelligent life in outer space in the next few days.

Last week we heard the news that there seemed to be a strange collection of objects around star KIC8462852. It's been speculated that it could be a huge structure under construction by an advanced alien civilization.

According to Business Insider on Yahoo, scientists are pointing a special radio telescope at the star in hopes of detecting some sort of transmission. The Allen Telescope Array in California can tune in to 9 billion frequencies, so if there is something or someone out there, it's bound to pick it up. However, as we might imagine, with billions of frequencies to choose from, finding the right one could be problematic.

Further complicating things are satellites in space and radio transmitters on earth that are using the same frequency range the ATA telescope is searching. That means scientists have to differentiate between signals that are from Earth, and those that might possibly be from aliens.

Scientists expect to know something definite within a week-- or at least as definite as things can be when you are dealing with outer space and aliens.

If someone were to ask me what I believe,  I would say there is quite possibly intelligent life somewhere in the universe besides Earth, but I have my doubts that we will ever make contact with it. I guess we could know sooner rather than later if there is life out there.
