Applications Being Taken For Christmas Assistance from Salvation Army

The holidays are fast approaching, and every year, KOOL 107.9 is deeply involved with the Toy Drive for the Salvation Army. It's a cause we believe in, because there are so many less-fortunate people  in need here in the Grand Valley. The Salvation Army does it the right way - making sure that toys and food go to the people who truly are in need.

I think many of take for granted how well off we are. Maybe we aren't wealthy, but we are able to buy gifts for our family and put a smile on the faces of those who love. There are many people who would like to share that joy, but are not in any way financially equipped to do it.

When you donate food or toys to the Salvation Army, you can be assured your kindness is truly going to those who have the greatest need in our community. And, of course, The Salvation Army is at work all year long helping those in need, not just during the holiday season.

There is an application process, which by the way is already underway. It requires applicants to go to the Salvation Army headquarters at 12234 N. 4th Street in Grand Junction,  and provide proof of income, a current utility bill or lease within the last year, picture I.D. for all adults in the home, and I.D. for all children living in the home like a birth certificate, medicaid card, or School I.D..

Applications are taken at the following times:

MONDAY-FRIDAY
October 21-25
November 4 -8
November 11-15
November 18-22
December 2-6 

Monday - Thursday.........9:00am-11:30am and 1:00pm-3:30pm
Friday...........9:00am-11:30am

Evening hours are available on November 19th and December 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm.
