Don McLean, the creator and singer of the classic hit 'American Pie' is coming to Grand Junction.

KOOL 107.9 will welcome Don McLean November 6th to the Avalon Theatre in Grand Junction, and I can't wait.

I've never seen Don McLean in concert, but I've always enjoyed his music and imagined he would put on a good show. Sure, there's the iconic 'American Pie', but honestly, I enjoy his other hits just as much if not more like 'Castles in the Air', 'Crying', 'Vincent', 'And I Love You So', and 'Since I Don't Have You.'

Considering the fact that it's been nearly 45  years since 'American Pie' came out, my expectation would be that Don McLean is not going to sound exactly like he did in 1971. But, my expectation would be that he would still be able to deliver the songs in a fashion that would be true to their original form.

I am encouraged by audience reviews I read at don-mclean.com.

"Just saw Don in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (27 May 2015), which was packed. Don was amazing, had the audience enraptured, mesmerized and following every word."-Tom

"Just saw Don at a small concert venue. He was absolutely fabulous. His voice was perfectly strong and clear. We didn't want him to end the evening."- Diane

"Saw Don McLean Friday night at Newton Theater, NJ. Fantastic show! What an amazing experience seeing him in person! Such energy and passion in every song he did."-Tony

Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, Don McLean's name has yet to be added to the rolls of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and maybe it never will be. No matter. He is a true artist - a singer, songwriter, performer, and communicator. I can't wait for this concert.

Tickets are on sale through Sandstone Concerts and at City Markets, Triple Play Records, and Back Porch Music.
