If you are a regular flier, you may want to re-consider reading any further, because these alarming airline secrets truly are alarming.

The article I saw on  the Huffington Post website quotes anonymous airline pilots, engineers, flight attendants, and frequent fliers. This information won't keeping me from flying in the future, but it certainly will change the way I fly.

The most alarming idea from the article was the matter of baby diapers being changed on the tray table - and the fact that the the trays are allegedly rarely cleaned or sanitized. Just think about what has been on that tray.

One source says the air we breathe inside an airplane is actually compressed air from the engines. You can't help but wonder what is in the air you're breathing and what exactly is going into your lungs. And, they say don't even touch water in an airplane unless it's in a bottle.

A fight attendant is quoted as saying the blankets and pillows generally get re-folded and stuffed back in the overhead bins, to be used again and again by unsuspecting guests. Great.

You can get more of these inside secrets from the article, but for me, I've heard enough to change the way I fly. No more blankets and pillows, and no eating off the tray table. If needed, I'm bringing my own blanket and pillow, and the tray will remain in the locked position in the back of the seat in front of me at all times.
