Using a technology with roots in Grand Junction, a dog with deformed front legs can now walk, run and play on his incredible 3D printed prostheses.

The process, known as stereolithography, 'prints' thin layers of material that are assembled into three dimensional objects like the prostheses Derby is wearing in the video.

The inventor of the process, Chuck Hull, was born in Clifton, Colo. graduated from Central High School, attended Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colo. and graduated with a degree in engineering physics from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Hull's company, 3D Systems, was founded in 1986 in Valencia, Calif. The company now has it's global headquarters in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Hull is currently the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of 3D Systems.
