My cooking abilities normally are limited to two steps. Step one find the food that needs to be cooked at the grocery store. Step two put whatever food I found in the microwave oven and push a button. Notice I did not say two buttons. That's too complicated. That normal cooking technique will not cut it for the 4th of July weekend.

This is grilling time. If you're a vegetarian, please stop reading now or I will no doubt offend the crap out of you. Animals will be harmed in the making of these recipes. Here are some of the BBQ favorites I have come across that you might want to try on your grill.

1. Smoked Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings - Grilling 24x7 nailed this one. Already had me with the onion rings. Adding bacon is like the exclamation point and the fact that these two wonders of the food world come together on a grill. Well, that's just not fair.

2. BBQ Deviled Eggs - I don't normally read Southern Living, but I came across this one while standing in the checkout line at the grocery store. I'm not smart enough to actually make the deviled eggs themselves, but I'm hoping my wife will get them to that point. Then, I can do the BBQ part. It's a nice way to make what would normally be a boring side dish into something stellar.

3. Salt and Pepper Rib Eye Steaks With Blue Cheese Butter and Onions - This is a hard one for me because the recipe involves five steps. That's four more than I can normally be trusted with. But, wow, the combination of the rib eye steak with blue cheese butter and onions. Forgive me if I leave a puddle near the grill. Thank you Weber Grill people for coming up with this one.

4. Tangy BBQ Sandwich - I'm normally skeptical of anything that comes from Health.com. People there are healthy and that automatically makes me suspicious, but they nailed this one. It has enough normal ingredients (meaning not typical healthy crap) that it fooled my mouth into thinking I was being bad.

5. Double RL Ranch Burger - I don't normally spend a lot of time with French people. I think it's the fact that I scare them with all my scratching and weird noises out of nowhere. However, I would like to congratulate whatever French person at Bon Appetit.com that came up with this awesome burger recipe. "Ralph's Special Sauce" listed in the recipe could be the best invention ever.  Ralph, high fives to you my new French friend.
