2014 Election Results: Gardner Beats Udall

In a race that garnered the attention of the nation, Republican Representative Cory Gardner has defeated first-term Senator Mark Udall. Here is a look at results in Mesa County.

The Colorado Senate race was one of the keys to shifting control of the U.S. Senate to Republicans after Tuesday's election.

Tuesday evening the Governor's race between John Hickenlooper and Republican challenger Bob Beauprez was too close to call. However, Hickenlooper is reported to have pulled ahead overnight. 9 News is reporting that Hickenlooper is the winner.

In the congressional 3rd District, Republican Scott Tipton won a third term be defeating Democratic challenger Abel Tapia of Pueblo.

Republican Cynthia Coffman defeated Democrat John Quick for attorney general, while Republican state treasurer Walker Stapleton was re-elected to a second term, defeating Democratic challenger Betsy Markey.

In the race for State Representative in District 55, Republic Dan Thurlow defeated Democrat Chris Kennedy, and in the State Senate race in District 5 Don Suppes and Kerry Donovan were in a dead heat.

Colorado voters said "no" to Proposition 105, that would have required modified foods sold in grocery stores to be labeled "Produced With Genetic Engineering."

Colorado voters said "yes" to Proposition 104, which requires school board negotiations with unions be open to the public.

Coloradoans also said "no" to Amendment 67, which would have added "unborn human beings" to the state's criminal code, which some feared would lead to a ban on all abortions.

Colorado voters rejected Amenment 68, that would have allowed casino gambling at a horse track in suburban Denver.

In Mesa County, Matt Lewis was the overwhelming winner in the race for Sheriff over Patrick Arotin and James Lange.

In the County Commissioner race in District 2, Republican Scott McInnis was an overwhelming winner over Mark N. Williams.

In the race for Mesa County Clerk and Recorder, Sheila Reiner defeated Jennifer Manzanares, and in the Mesa County Assessor race Ken Brownlee was an overwhelming winner over Steve Henderson.

In Palisade, voters narrowly rejected Referred Measure 2, which would have allowed cultivation, testing, manufacturing, and retails sales of marijuana in Palisade. Voters there said "yes" to Referred Measure 2A, which would tax retail marijuana incrementally based on the purchase amount.

In Delta, voters narrowly passed measure 2D, which would  extend tax capital for capital, operations and maintenance tax for Bill Heddles Recreation Center to all City owned parks and recreation areas. Voters there also said "no" to measure 2E, which would allow the city to collect and retain existing taxes and fees.

The town of Paonia has rejected a measure that would have allowed retail marijuana establishments, while Crawford voters said yes to Ballot Question 2A,  which allows the  town to retain existing tax and fee revenue for construction of roads and maintenance of town hall and other structures.

In the Montrose County Commissioner's race in District 2, Republican Glen Davis defeated Democrat Tammy Theis.
